Workshop Descriptions
Grant Writing Made Easy (1 day)
The trainers for this workshop have been successful in securing millions of dollars in funding and have reviewed hundreds of grant applications for various funders. This day-long workshop is designed to assist participants in understanding the fundamentals of proposal/grant writing. Using the basic components of a funding request generally issued by funders, participants will get hands-on experience in developing problem statements, goals and objectives, program plans and budgets. Writing these proposal elements will be practiced by participants through a simple and easy to follow process. Tips for developing evaluations and managing the proposal/grant writing process will be provided.
Finding Funding Opportunities (1/2 day)
Have you ever had an idea and wondered if anyone would provide funding to help you make it come true? If the answer is yes, then this workshop is for you. This workshop will help participants identify sources of public and foundation funding, understand funding cycles, and how to read Requests for Proposals.
How to Start a Non-Profit (1/2 day)
This workshop is designed for individuals, churches, organizations, and businesses interested in starting a non-profit organization. Naming and chartering a new organization, establishing a Board, developing by-laws, vision and mission statements, and policies and procedures will be addressed. IRS required documentation and forms to be completed to apply for non-profit 501©3 status will be addressed.
Program Evaluation (1/2 day)
Legislative bodies, donors, funders, and stakeholders alike are calling for more public accountability for dollars being invested in communities. They want to know how well a particular program is working, whether they are getting a good return on their investment and how to select the right organization from the many who request their funds. This workshop on basic evaluation will help familiarize participants with basic process and outcome evaluation, how to measure program progress and outcomes and how to write a program progress report.
Logic Models (1/2 day)
Many funders are requiring applicants who apply for their funding to develop a logic model to graphically depict the link between resources (inputs), activities (outputs) and results (outcomes). In this workshop participants will have a hands-on experience in actually developing a logic model.
